Vision Derbyshire Start Up Grants

The Vision Derbyshire Business Start-Up Grant Scheme is available to:

• Individuals at the pre-start stage, who intend to register a new business in eligible areas of Derbyshire
• Businesses already located in eligible areas of Derbyshire that have been registered as trading for less than 12 months
• New Social Enterprises are also eligible to apply where sustainable future income is proven

Businesses must be registered with Companies House or HMRC when an application is submitted and have an active bank account.

Grants of up to 50% of eligible costs are available. The maximum grant will be £10,000.

An additional grant of £5,000 may be available in exceptional circumstances, eg, where a start-up can demonstrate high growth potential after a 6 month period.

Small grants of up to £500 can be applied for with no matched funding required.

Eligible items include:

•Equipment for the business e.g. coffee maker, griddle (not replacement items)

•IT equipment (rationale needed in application)

•Fixtures & fittings

•Refurbishment of business premises (not domestic premises, not replacement items)

•Marketing materials (not advertising or social media advertising)

•Website - if includes e-commerce/booking system

•Event stands

•Accredited training to develop additional skills

Activity that will not be eligible include essential running costs (statutory obligations, utility bills, wages/ salaries, overheads, insurance, tax, basic standard IT, stock/ consumables), feasibility studies/ planning applications, professional fees, training that is a statutory requirement, radio/ vehicle/ newspaper advertising and vehicles and other mobile infrastructure.

Industries not covered: Accommodation/B&B/ Air BnB

No retrospective claims for items paid before project commencement will be considered. The business will be required to pay the supplier for the full cost of the project before claiming the grant element. Therefore, funds must be in place to cover these costs prior to submitting the application.
