Nottingham City Council (Accountable Body) and the D2N2 LEP submitted a successful joint bid with Sheffield City Region, a leading Combined Authority and have been awarded in the region of £330K to deliver the D2N2/SCR Digital Innovation Fund Pilot, to be delivered between 1 June 2019 and 31 October 2019

The Digital Innovation Fund is the first competitive tender launched by DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) to increase inclusivity and digital skills growth, presenting or Nottingham City Council an opportunity to build on its’ own Digital Skills Strategy – Nottingham Tech 1000.

Our Partners for the delivery of the D2N2 LEP project are: Department for Culture Media and Sport; D2N2 LEP, Autism East Midlands; East Midlands Chamber of Commerce; University of Derby; University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University.

The digital skills programme is innovative and employer led, supporting 175 participants from under-represented groups, focusing on women (unemployed/under-employed) and autistic people (men or women who are considered to be ‘high functioning’ on the autistic spectrum), building pathways to digital jobs. 88 of these participants will be sourced from across the D2N2 region.

There are 5 Core Digital Skills Academies and participants will be able to choose from ONE of the following academy sessions:

  • Digital Marketing (Nottingham)
  • Web Development (Derby)
  • Data Visualisation (Chesterfield)
  • Cyber Security (Nottingham)
  • Digital Essentials (Nottingham)

Each Skills Academy is 4 days in duration running across D2N2 geography (full details here).

Note: Each course requires every participant to have a minimum level of digital skills and experience to ensure that the training course is right for them. All participants will also be required to complete an initial assessment and an enrolment form to join the Skills Academy.

The training is FREE and lunch will be provided for all participants but PLACES ARE LIMITED.

Booking is essential and this should be done directly through East Midlands Chamber of Commerce or Autism East Midlands.

Those who successfully complete the course will be awarded a Certificate of Competence for the given Academy and will have the opportunity to take up a work experience placement within a digital business, leading to potential employment opportunities.
