UK companies must publish pay ratios under new law

Posted on August 29th, 2017

An estimated 900 publicly-listed companies will have to reveal how much more their chief executives are paid compared with the average employee, under a package of Government reforms, the BBC reports this morning

Measures aimed at increasing boardroom transparency will be unveiled later.

Firms that face significant shareholder opposition to executive pay deals will be named and shamed on a new register, the report said, confirming what the Guardian had hinted at last week.

Business Secretary Greg Clark said the plans will make a difference, but unions attacked them as "watered down".
