Tidyco retains significant contract

Derby- based Tidyco; a supplier of hydraulic and pneumatic solutions to the rail industry for over 40 years, has successfully retained a contract with The Channel Tunnel Group Ltd for a further four years.

Paul Jacks and Mark Newman were instrumental in preparing all necessary bid documentation and submitting to the client in a timely manner as per a stipulated deadline.

Paul Jacks, Divisional Rail Director for Tidyco comments; “We fully empathised with our clients need to undertake a public tender process but were understandably keen to retain the business. Aware that Tidyco would face some fierce competition, we invested a significant amount of time analysing our overall service provision whilst investigating methods of improvement and on-going cost saving benefits.

“Important too, was valuable time spent updating all CSR documentation so as to instil confidence to The Channel Tunnel Group Ltd regarding business transparency and best working practices. I remember our Marketing Manager advising us to approach the tender as though we hadn’t got the contract so as not to rest on our laurels. Barry has previous experience writing tender bids for the Public Sector and this particular methodology proved extremely effective.”

Here, Mark Newman Hose Doctor Manager for the group discusses the The Channel Tunnel Group Ltd partnership further;

“It was towards the latter part of 2011 that Paul and I were approached by The Channel Tunnel Group Ltd and were tasked with designing a solutions based proposal for all freight rolling stock hydraulic requirements.

"We designed an on-site presence with a fully stocked container housing all necessary equipment to manufacture hydraulic hosing systems. Tidyco proposed supplying a dedicated engineer so as to reduce call out time and expenditure.

"Furthermore, we demonstrated the ability of providing a planned maintenance service, reinforced by a totally secure portal whereby The Channel Tunnel Group Ltd could view completed work, the engineer responsible as well as view next service dates. Reactive requirements were also designed into the system so the client could request an emergency call out from within the cloud.

More recently, the Tidyco client portal has been accredited with the Government fuelled Cyber Essentials certification, ensuring that all The Channel Tunnel Group Ltd contract specific data is as secure as can be.

It has been a pleasurable experience witnessing the contract evolve over the past five years. Originally, Tidyco supplied just one on-site engineer working a three day week. As client requirements grew we expanded the work force to the two full time on-site engineers that are in place today. Understandably, I am ecstatic that Tidyco has retained the contract for a further four years.”

Tidyco worked in partnership with The Channel Tunnel Group Ltd to source suitably experienced engineers so as to comfortably fulfil the scope of supply. Paul concludes;
“I very much enjoy adopting a solutions based partnership approach with my customers. Due to the onsite nature of the contract, the engineering personnel would very much become members of the The Channel Tunnel Group Ltd team. Therefore, it was imperative that we found a suitable fit.

"Tarren and Daniel do a grand job for Tidyco and through regular reviews; I know that The Channel Tunnel Group Ltd are incredibly happy with their work.

"Quite simply, it is Tarren and Daniel that make the contract work.”
