These awards are such an important presence for both the apprenticeship and BAME communities as they work to break down barriers and shine the spotlight of success on our BAME learners across the country. LCG believe that education and training should be accessible to anyone throughout their lives, no matter where they come from or what point they are at in their career. Their ‘Purple People’, the dedicated, brilliant staff at LCG, work hard every day to ensure their provision is inclusive to all so they can fulfil their mission of transforming lives through learning.
LCG celebrated twice as Priya Sambath, a level 4 Data Analyst Apprentice working for Suffolk Council, was named as highly commended in the Apprentice of the Year in the Charity, Voluntary and Public Services category. Mushall Khan, LCG’s Director of Corporate Operations who oversees the delivery of the award-winning apprenticeships said: ‘Everyone at LCG is extremely proud of Priya as she has overcome some challenges during her apprenticeship journey. She has gained her maths and English qualifications and has gone on to excel in her training, which overall has improved her confidence.’ Priya has been supported throughout her studies by her excellent apprenticeship trainer, Colin Smith, who nominated her for this award.

Priya is a great example of how our apprenticeship programmes and the support from our trainers can really help people excel in their career through education, without needing to leave employment.”
The BAME Apprentice Network who organise the Awards, aim to close the diversity gap in apprenticeships by supporting apprentices and working with employers to make meaningful change. The awards continue to grow year on year, with over 175 employers and Learning Providers entering, breaking last year's record. The awards platform has been instrumental in creating future leaders and ambassadors for Apprenticeships and brought to the forefront key issues surrounding the need for more diversity within particular sectors.
