Trump-watcher and Treasury Select Committee Chair to speak at annual dinner
Radio presenter Justin Webb will be one of the keynote speakers at this year’s Chamber annual dinner in March.
Justin currently spends his mornings grilling British politicians and news-makers as a presenter on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.
Before joining Today, Justin was the BBC’s North America Editor – a role in which he covered all the twists and turns of the 2008 Presidential election that saw Barack Obama voted into the Whitehouse.
Justin continues to observe the American political, social and economic climate, assessing the often dramatic events on Capitol Hill, Wall Street and Main Street.
He is described as a wonderfully engaging speaker on everything from Brexit to Trump.
Also speaking will be the Rt Hon Nicky Morgan, MP for Loughborough and Chair of the Treasury Select Committee.
Nicky served as Education Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities from July 2014 until July 2016. She served as an Assistant Whip in the coalition Government until her appointment as Economic Secretary to the Treasury in October 2013.
She was also Financial Secretary to the Treasury and Minister for Women from April until July 2014. She is a former mergers and acquisitions lawyer and worked in three major City of London firms before being elected as a Conservative MP in 2010.
She is the author of Taught not Caught: Educating for Character in the 21st Century, a study into building characterful children and the positive impact it has on their academic attainment.
The Chamber's Annual Dinner is one of the most prestigious black-tie business events in the East Midlands.
With over 600 guests from businesses in the region expected, the dinner provides a fantastic platform to raise profile and network with some of the most influential business leaders in the area.
The event will be held at the Roundhouse, Derby, on 22 March, starting with a welcome drinks reception at 6.30pm.
