8th January 2025
Local businesses in Gedling are being encouraged to attend the upcoming Gedling Business Support Network meeting, where they can gain valuable insights into boosting sales and collaborate with fellow businesses. The event aims to support businesses in the area by providing practical advice and opportunities to connect.
The Network was established last year to help local business owners improve their skills, encourage peer networking and provide access to local and national business support. It is funded by Gedling Borough Council’s share of the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and delivered by East Midlands Chamber*.
The next meeting takes place on Friday 24 January 2025 from 9.30 to 11.45 am at the Richard Herrod Centre in Carlton and includes breakfast. Any business located in, or doing business in Gedling can attend.
In response to feedback from previous meetings, it will focus on helping businesses improve their sales techniques. Sales and marketing expert Lindsey Newman-Wood will deliver a workshop titled "Sell Smarter: Boost Your Sales and Close More Deals with Confidence". The session will provide business owners with practical tools to:
• Increase conversion rates.
• Ask the right questions to understand customer needs.
• Handle objections effectively.
• Close sales without being pushy.
Lindsey’s hands-on approach will include real-life examples and actionable tips designed to help businesses develop lasting relationships with their customers and drive growth.
In addition to the sales session, Liam Jackson from the East Midlands Combined County Authority will outline the benefits of businesses working with schools and young people.
The meeting is followed by a focus group discussion (12.00-1.00 pm), providing attendees with an opportunity to shape the future of the Network. Local businesses are encouraged to share their ideas on how the Network can better serve their needs going forward.
Councillor Jenny Hollingsworth, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Growth and Economy at Gedling Borough Council, said: “We’re looking forward to another successful business support network event, where Gedling businesses can meet up and learn valuable sales techniques and tips to help them to thrive in 2025 and beyond. These regular meetings are a valuable opportunity for business owners to share ideas, develop their skills and find out more about the support available to local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)”.
