Funding to Support Two Healthy Ageing Social Venture Projects

The funding is part of the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) £98m Healthy Ageing Challenge which helps people to remain active, productive, independent and socially connected across generations for as long as possible.

It also aims to narrow the gap in the experience of ageing between the richest and poorest. The challenge funds and supports businesses, including social enterprises, to create products and services to help people as they age, and deliver them at scale. This can lead to better public services and improved efficiency and effectiveness.

The competition will fund organisations to deliver social impact and address one or more of the seven themes of the Healthy Ageing Challenge.

  1. Sustaining physical activity
  2. Maintaining health at work
  3. Designing for age-friendly homes
  4. Managing common complaints of ageing
  5. Living well with cognitive impairment
  6. Supporting social connections
  7. Creating healthy and active place

The project will support two areas.

  1. Industrial research for organisations to deliver social impact and address one or more of the seven themes, with costs from £50,000 to £150,000 for prototype development and evaluation
  2. Feasibility Studies for projects that support products and services, with costs up to £50,000.

Projects can last up to 24 months and must end by Feb 2024. They can be awarded to organisations of any size who may work with other organisations as a subcontractor.

Closes 15th Sept 2021.
