A former head of MI5 will be one of the keynote speakers at the East Midlands Chamber's annual dinner later this month.
Eliza Manningham-Buller ran Britain’s domestic counter-intelligence and security agency in the aftermath of the 9/11 atrocity and the rise of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda.
She doubled the size of MI5 and transformed its old approach to staff.
In her own account of driving change in turbulent times, the Reith Lecturer shows that leadership is not about command and control, but vision and strategy.
“You must be honest about difficulties, but demonstrate your confidence in the future and in your people,” she says.
Also speaking will be the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Derbyshire Dales MP the Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin, a known and respected ‘old stager’ of the House of Commons.
Patrick was previously Secretary of State for Transport (2012-16) and has held a number of positions in Government, including Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Trade and Industry and Government Chief Whip (2005-12). He was appointed to the Privy Council in 2005.
The Chamber's Annual Dinner is one of the most prestigious black-tie business events in the East Midlands.
With over 600 guests from businesses in the region expected, the dinner provides a fantastic platform to raise profile and network with some of the most influential business leaders in the area.

The event will be held at the Roundhouse, Derby, on 23 March, starting with a welcome drinks reception.
