They were commended for their achievements across innovation, international development and sustainable development.
In total, 148 companies were celebrated in the awards, which were previously known as the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise and are recognised as the UK’s most prestigious business awards.
The Department for Business and Trade announced the winners today (Friday 21st April), stating they displayed qualities that are central to delivering on one of the Government’s five priorities to grow the economy; from creating new opportunities and supporting people into work, through to developing new innovations and exporting the best of Britain around the world.
Six of the winners are members of East Midlands Chamber, connecting, supporting and championing businesses and communities across the three counties.
East Midlands Chamber chief executive Scott Knowles said:
“Our congratulations go out to all our region’s winners, which will be able to use this royal seal of approval to great effect in marketing their products and services both at home and abroad.
We often talk about how the East Midlands is a Centre of Trading Excellence – a place for making things, moving them and innovating in how we do this – and these businesses are testament to this reputation.
At a time when we need to be exploring new international markets, finding new ways of raising productivity and growing our competitiveness in the right way, it’s fantastic to have some shining examples for our region’s business community to look up to.”
Awards recipients are permitted to fly the King’s Awards for Enterprise flag at their main office and use the emblem in marketing materials for five years.
They will also receive an official certificate known as a grant of appointment and a commemorative crystal trophy.
It is also great to acknowledge that three of these winning businesses had previously applied for and were granted funding under the Business Investment Fund. This fund allowed these businesses to access resources, opportunities and expansion in their business.
Applications for the King’s Awards for Enterprise 2024 open on Coronation Day, 6 May 2023.
