Broxtowe Businesses Receive Free Business Health Checks and Advice

BROXTOWE BUSINESSES got a free health check and advice this month at a drop in session at the Council Offices in Beeston.

Advisers from D2N2 Growth Hub and Beeston based Wren Accountancy were on hand on Wednesday 20th September to offer advice and support. Each one-to-one session gave people the opportunity to ask questions and get practical tips:

D2N2 Growth Hub Health Checks provided:
• Valuable advice and insight to help existing businesses flourish,
• Relevant information on access to finance to expand, guidance on the latest legislation or practical business support,
• The right advice for business needs.

Wren Accountancy advice sessions included:
• Tax and accountancy support to pre-start, start up and existing businesses including business trading in the most appropriate structure (sole trader, partnership, limited company, Community Interest Company, etc), what is the best accounting or book-keeping package for businesses and tips on ways to keep business tax liability to a minimum.
• Free guides on Starting Up in Business, Tax Saving Tips and 57 Ways to Grow Your Business were also available to those interested.

Craig Cumiskey of Cordy Lane, Brinsley, who attended both sessions, said, “They provided me with very beneficial information and both of the professional advisers were helpful to my business, and I will be using the guidance provided in the future.”

Other attendees spoke highly of the “really helpful and professional advisers”, with some stating that “they took away barriers to starting up.” All agreed that the event was highly beneficial and hoped to see them continue in order to help even more start-up businesses.

The sessions were hosted by D2N2 Growth Hub and Wren Accountancy in partnership with Broxtowe Borough Council and were made possible thanks to funding by the European Regional Development fund and Wren Accountancy’s support. The Council is aiming to hold similar events in the future and welcomes any and all businesses that would like to get involved.

Once connected with the D2N2 Growth Hub, the businesses who attended have access to workshops and events, regular updates on the latest funding news and regional or national programmes that will help with growth plans.
