Going Green - Berkeley Inns install electric vehicle charging points at all sites

The number of registered electric cars in the Derby area has risen by 74% over 12 months - one of the biggest increases in the country. In a conscious move to contribute towards helping reduce emissions Berkeley Inns has joined forces with Alfa Power to provide electric vehicle [EV] charging points at all of its 5 venues.

Berkeley Inns Ltd is a fast expanding pub and restaurant group operating across Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Venues include The Cock Inn at Mugginton, The Horseshoes in Long Lane Village, The Cow in Dalbury Lees, The Bluebell in Kirk Langley and the soon to be unveiled Meynell Ingram Arms at Hoar Cross.

Alfa Power is one of Group Alfa’s newer businesses, their ambition is to create an expanding footprint of “green” EVCs by partnering with like-minded companies and organisations to create sustainable charging points in prime ‘user-friendly locations’.

Howard Thacker, Managing Director of Berkeley Inns commented:-

“We committed to making this provision across all of our sites recognising that public charging points for electric vehicles are an increasingly critical facility as greater numbers of the public make the switch to electric vehicles.  We are able to offer greater convenience to our customers and at the same time reduce our carbon footprint.”

Alex Owers, Commercial Manager at Alfa Power commented:-

“We are delighted to be working in conjunction with Berkeley Inn’s. Their innovative and progressive attitude toward creating a sustainable environment while simultaneously providing a public service is something that should be celebrated within the industry.”
