End of the road tomorrow for paper £10 notes

Posted on March 1st, 2018

Businesses, banks and building societies can refuse to accept paper £10 notes from midnight tonight.

The paper 'tenner' was replaced with the polymer note in September.

From tomorrow, only the Bank of England will accept the paper £10 notes without question, although most High Street banks and Post Offices are expected to continue to do so for a short but unspecified time from their own customers.

It is estimated that over 200 million of the paper notes have not yet been handed in.

At the same time, a collection of new 10p coins, featuring 26 designs celebrating Britain are entering circulation.
