Forward-thinking business leaders, start-ups and SMEs are being invited to attend a free, informative and inspiring day at Nottingham's newest co-working space, Accelerate Places.

Having been compared to London's Silicon Roundabout – a hotbed for tech companies and software developers - Accelerate Places offers a high tech environment, superior on site network, support services and access to funding, all geared up to support business growth.

The company, which is celebrating a successful first year in Nottingham, is throwing open its doors on Tuesday 25 July to give companies the chance to try out their facilities for free and to take advantage of expert advice aimed at giving them the skills to grow their business.

Opening its doors at The Poynt, on Wollaton Street, Nottingham, at 10am, with the aroma of a complimentary breakfast in the air, the team will offer attendees a tour of the building and open up its workspaces for free to allow them to experience the flexible approach to collaborative working.

During the day, there will be a masterclass on why negotiation is a vital core business skill, delivered by Mark Onyett, Partner and in-house expert from Blenheim Chalcot (the company behind Accelerate Places).

Mark, a former Capital One executive who went on to launch TDX Group – a Nottingham FinTech company which subsequently sold for £200m - will share his knowledge of key negotiation hacks and anecdotes for businesses of all sizes.

"From agreeing terms and conditions to securing that killer client or partner, clever negotiation is absolutely critical to business success," he said.

"Poor negotiation can quickly damage a company and, while it may seem simple, it's not unusual for people to get too emotional and ignore their basic business instincts.

"This session aims to give attendees the ability and confidence to get the best deal possible in any negotiation scenario."

Alongside Mark will be Harvard Law School Negotiation Programme Leader, Stuart Blackley, who, having previously held a range of buying, marketing and own brand development roles at Boots UK, is an expert in heading up procurement, category management and commercial insight projects.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to take part in a lively panel on 'youthification', discussing the pros and cons of hiring millennials, chaired by Mary Baird-Wilcock, founder of The Simplifiers and mentor to event-planning companies around the world.

Mary will also be joined by Mark Onyett to lead the debate on the role of millennials in securing future business success and why there seems to be very mixed views on their attitudes and behavours.

"Youthification continues to be a big trend with many start-ups and SMEs looking to hire millennials in this fast-moving digital age." saidMark.

"While some think it's a 'magic bullet' for success, a recent CBI/Pearson survey revealed 32% of companies questioned were dissatisfied with millennials’ attitudes and behaviours of self-management and resilience, so it should prove an interesting debate."

During the afternoon, the co-working space will be available to anyone wanting to take advantage of the facilities until the event closes at 5pm.

Anyone wanting to attend all or part of the day can secure their place by contacting lc.osaclrtpae.ouyms@ceeaelcscm or booking online.
