Grant funding for new customs processes training

Grant funding is available to businesses that want to learn about new customs declarations.

Changes to forms and processes for moving goods and services over international boundaries will change post-Brexit, particularly with regards the EU.

East Midlands Chamber has joined forces with HMRC to deliver a Customs Declarations Training programme to prepare firms for the future of international trade.

Firms that move quickly could get up to 70% of the cost of the training paid by Government grants. The closing date for grant applications is 5 April, so companies will have to be quick if they want to take advantage of the financial help.

The Customs Declarations Training is classroom-based and will be delivered at Chamber offices.

"Businesses should begin now to familiarise themselves with the key processes," HRMC says.

David Pearson, Director of Partnerships said: “There are going to be some serious changes to the paperwork and processes for international trade post-Brexit and, based on the best advice available, we have combined with HMRC to offer businesses training in what those changes will be.

“Any firm trading internationally should familiarise themselves with those changes as soon as possible to help make the transition to a post-Brexit economy as seamless as possible.”
