There is now a transition period until the end of 2020 while the UK and EU negotiate additional arrangements.
The current rules on trade, travel, and business for the UK and EU will continue to apply during the transition period.

This programme aims to ensure that businesses in the East Midlands are informed and prepared to deal with any challenges that may result from the UK’s departure from the European Union, as well as to help them spot and capitalise upon opportunities that may result.

The RESTART programme, run by The Export Department, provides a mixture of coaching and 'hands-on' support, uniquely tailored to participating businesses as they prepare to resume trading.
The aim of RESTART is to ensure that local businesses not only emerge more resilient from this crisis but are also optimally equipped to capitalise on the opportunities presented to them once the ‘green light’ is given and business can resume.
