Introducing Rushcliffe Accelerator

Rushcliffe Accelerator is a brand new business support project designed to help businesses across Rushcliffe to start, sustain, grow and innovate. Supplementary support will also be provided to start-up businesses across the Rushcliffe area. 

The project is led by East Midlands Chamber and funded through a proportion of the Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocation. The project, which runs until 31 March 2025, offers support to all businesses across the district, with added support for high-growth and scaling businesses looking to innovate.

What support can I access?

Working with an experienced business adviser, eligible businesses can access a range of support including:

  • 1-2-1 advice, mentoring and diagnostic support to support with decarbonisation and innovation.
  • Training and workshops: providing you with the latest learning and tools in areas such as energy efficiency, waste. management and decarbonisation.
  • Grant funding: helping you identify and apply for funding to help you grow, increase efficiencies and build a sustainable business for the future.
  • Networking and peer support: for example, through the Nottingham Manufacturing Network and Nottinghamshire Manufacturing Network which have regular forum meetings.
  • Energy saving and improvement audits providing you with a full asset register and an action plan on how to save costs.
  • Growth vouchers: offering up to £2,000 (100% funded) for specialist consultancy and training (linked to the strategic plan developed with your business adviser. Available on a first-come, first-served basis).
  • Help to Grow - Management course: £750 joining fee subsidy for this 12-week executive development leadership and management programme (together with the Government’s 90% support, this covers 100% of the costs).

What support is available to Start-Up businesses? 

In partnership with NBV, a professional start-up business adviser can be provided to help your new business flourish. A Start-Up Business Adviser has a genuine interest in supporting pre-starts and early-stage businesses and the ability to use their own experiences across a range of specialisms. They possess an in-depth knowledge of the business support landscape and the ability to advise individuals and businesses on the range of options as well as having excellent mentoring and coaching skills.

Support includes:

  • Start-up business plan creation/ complete financial templates to assess viability
  • Support to access finance in the forms of grants, loans and investment
  • Offering mentoring and coaching to help a business start, survive, adapt to changing environment
  • Providing support on the business planning processes to aid growth
  • Giving advice on business improvement techniques
  • Advice on digital adoption/ marketing
  • Introducing businesses to networks and associates
  • Supporting businesses to reduce their energy use and carbon footprint

Support is available via telephone, online, and by face to face.

Rushcliffe Borough Council Bursary

Small businesses and sole traders who attend a low carbon and green skills course hosted either by Rushcliffe Borough Council or East Midlands Chamber will be able to apply for a bursary of £300 to support the installation of low carbon infrastructure or energy efficiency measures.
