Small Business Adaptation Grant (Micro and Small Businesses)
For projects costing between £2,500 and £10,000 up to 65% support is available, maximum grant £6,500. Open to a range of sectors.

Eligible expenditure includes the following costs where it can be demonstrated that the proposed investment will directly support the objectives of the grant scheme:

  • new equipment or technology required to develop/diversify/grow the business including capital expenditure to enhance energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint of the business.
  • digital adoption including investment in e-commerce and on-line booking systems
  • buying in specialist consultancy services to develop/diversify/grow the business
  • buying-in bespoke training necessary to upskill the workforce and address skills shortages including training for business owners, employers, managers or employees

Business Development Grant (Micro and Small Businesses operating from business premises)

The Business Development Grant may cover up to 50% of project costs, to a maximum of £25,000, for projects costing between £10,001 and £100,000.  

Businesses in the following sectors: are eligible to apply: manufacturing, engineering, farm diversification, knowledge based, creative and digital sector, or hospitality. Service and construction sector businesses may be eligible to apply if 50% or more of their turnover is derived from business-to-business transactions.  

Eligible expenditure includes the following costs where it can be demonstrated that the proposed investment will directly support the objectives of the grant scheme.

  • new equipment or technology required to develop/diversify/grow the business such as new to the firm technologies or processes, more efficient production processes and capital expenditure to enhance energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint of the business.
  • digital adoption such as investment in e-commerce and on-line booking systems
  • capital expenditure to enable premise adaptations to support business expansion where the occupier is the applicant business. No funding is available for capital improvements to property which is subsequently let to other users.
  • buying in specialist consultancy services to develop/diversify/grow the business*
  • buying-in bespoke training necessary to upskill the workforce and address skills shortages including training for business owners, employers, managers or employees

Business Growth Grant (micro, small and medium manufacturing or engineering businesses operating from business premises)

Applicants will have at least 2 Full Time Equivalent employees (excluding directors). A maximum grant of £40,000 is available to support projects costing £100,001 to £150,000.
