To achieve the UK Government’s target to be Net Zero by 2050, more professionals will need to be trained to install and maintain energy efficiency measures such as insulation, low carbon technologies and more.
Skills training competitions managed on behalf of the Department provide opportunities for upskilling the retrofit workforce across a range of work packages.
The Home Decarbonisation Skills Training Competition aims to make accredited energy efficiency training culminating in recognised NVQ qualifications or equivalent more widely available by offering it for free, or at costs heavily subsidised by the government, according to the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).
Funded training is also available in the fields of Heat Pumps and Heat Networks.
