Introduction:
Please note: This course is delivered through the Enterprising Ashfield project, which is funded by the Government's Towns Fund. Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is pleased to offer free (fully funded) places on this course to support individuals and employees of businesses that are based in the towns of Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield.
The standard fee would normally be £395.
On this course, you'll learn how to win over your audience with the right words. It's ideal for anyone that would like to write more confidently, instead of fearing it!
It's equally useful if you're regularly writing reports, presentations and project briefs, and would like to develop your writing skills to influence others.
What you’ll study
This course is designed to help you communicate effectively.
It'll provide an understanding of how to write important or technical information in a way that can be read by a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences.
During this course you will:
- learn how to get started writing
- consider the importance of different audiences and their varying needs
- practice writing in the correct tone, balancing professionalism with personality
- understand how to get your readers' attention to get the message across
- plan how to best structure your writing to make the biggest impact
- identify the use of jargon, acronyms, abbreviations and initials
- discover how to use illustrations effectively
- work on your timing and targeting your audience
- gain feedback on your writing style.
The course is delivered through lectures and group discussions, classroom activities and real-life examples.
