This full day workshop will cover a range of topics designed to help both start-up enterprises and existing traders to brush up their display, digital marketing and merchandising skills.
Aimed at start-up businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs, featuring a workshop introducing attendees to self employment.
The focus will be on established retailers with the first session on digital marketing for the high street, including why mobile-friendly websites are so important to local businesses, followed by a session on the importance of visual merchandising.
The morning seminar is open to start-up enterprises and existing traders.
The afternoon session is open to eligible SMEs in the Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire area.
Introduction to Self Employment, delivered by Kerry Ireland (morning session for start ups)
During this session you will consider "what makes an entrepreneur" and discover the identifiable traits and behaviours that you already have, that will support you to realise the time and energy to achieve your potential. You will consider what you can do to develop and focus an entrepreneurial attitude.
We will begin to look at how to boost creativity, with the benefits of business planning and consider what you can do to develop your new business idea to become a springboard to achieving your potential.
Digital Marketing for High Street Businesses delivered by Ian Lockwood (afternoon session for established businesses)
Online visibility is essential for high street businesses. 88% of users who search for a local business visit or call within a day, with nearly 46% of all Googlesearches made by people looking for local information. In this session we will cover:

How to Increase your visibility in search results using Local SEO: Optimising Google My Business and Bing Places.
How to reach the right people: Local targeted advertising using Google Ads & Facebook Ads.
Merchandising Making the Most of Your Shop, delivered by Visual Thinking (afternoon session for established businesses)
The one hour presentation will focus on the importance of visual merchandising, including insight into retail best practice and practical tips for establishing the cornerstones of visual merchandising excellence to improve the customer experience and help to grow retail sales. Suitable for attendees, regardless of retail category, number of shops or shop size, it will explain how to take action and engage others when they go back to their business in order to see visible and immediate results.
Upon booking you will be presented with two different ticket types which will give you the option to select either the morning or afternoon session.
The support provided by D2N2 Growth Hub 2019-2022 is part-funded via the European Regional Development Fund, therefore we are required to evidence that you are a small to medium sized enterprise. Prior to attending a D2N2 Growth Hub event, or contact with a D2N2 Growth Hub Adviser, you will need to submit an SME enrolment form providing details of your business.
