MS Excel for the Construction Professional

This course is delivered by Serik Tokbolat. Serik is a senior lecturer in construction management within the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment (ADBE) at Nottingham Trent University. He gained his PhD from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Course content and learning outcomes
The course addresses the following themes:
- Getting started with Microsoft Excel, including utilising the main commands in the control ribbon.
- Working with data to use formatting and Excel functions.
- Presenting your data effectively by using tables, graphs and charts.
- Learning how to use formulas and apply them to problem-solving exercises.
- Creating pivot tables.
- Introduction to Macros.
- Being presented with engineering problems to solve.
As a result of completing the course, delegates will be able to:
- Appropriately use IT resources to solve and model numerical, statistical and construction-related problems.
- Analyse and present findings in MS Excel.
- Build your confidence and demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the software.
- Clearly communicate in written and graphical forms.
- Demonstrate a range of transferable skills that will be valuable in the workplace.
