Course Overview
The Help to Grow Management Course at Nottingham Business School is a practical training course for senior managers and owners of small and medium-sized businesses who want to upskill and boost their business performance.
This 12-week course covers 12 core modules, which are key to making every business successful. The programme is designed to allow participants to complete it alongside full-time work with a time commitment of 3 - 4 hours per week and doesn't require you to have any previous education or training.
During the course, you will have the option to receive 10 hours of one-on-one mentoring from a mentor of your choice, selected from a pool of over 2000 business leaders with diverse skills and expertise.
What you’ll study
Over the 12 weeks, you will have eight two-hour online sessions focusing on a core topic vital to a successful business and four practical in-person case study workshops.
The modules covered are:
- Strategy and Innovation
- Digital Adoption
- Internationalisation and winning new markets
- Vision, Mission and Values
- Developing a Marketing Strategy
- Building a Brand (Case Study)
- Organisational Design
- Employee Engagement and Leading Change
- High-Performance Workplace
- Efficient Operations
- Finance and Financial Management
- Implementing Growth Plans

Learning Outcomes
From the beginning of the course, you will start to build a Growth Action Plan and identify any changes. By the end of the course, you will have a full, unique plan tailored to the challenges you face, ready to be implemented within your business.
After the course
Once you have completed the course, you will become a member of the National Alumni Network and have free access to webinars, events, and expert content. Plus, you’ll also have a free 6-month membership to the CMI.
Eligibility Criteria
This course is open to businesses with 5 – 249 employees and must have been operating for a minimum of one year.
Fees & Funding
The course is valued at £7,500 but is 90% funded by the Government, bringing the course cost down to £750 per participant.
Grants are available, covering £750, to some businesses depending on location. Please get in touch to find out if you are eligible for a payback grant.
