What is this session about?
Numeracy is the ability to use numbers and mathematical concepts in everyday life. Fundamental maths topics, such as fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios and simple algebra, are used in almost every profession, not just specialist fields such as science and engineering.
This highly individualized course will be tailored to your specific needs. Our online learning tools help you establish a baseline from which you can expand your numeracy and problem-solving skill set. You will be supported throughout the course by our academic staff, who will guide you through the following areas:
- Financial and business mathematics: used in budgets, financial planning and forecasting
- Numbers, operations, fractions, percentages: used in financial operations, planning and management
- Algebra: used for logistics, data analysis and supply chain
- Graphs, systems, and equations: useful for management reporting
- Measurement and geometry: used in construction, engineering and surveying
- Statistics, probabilities and data analysis: used for analytics, planning and forecasting
- Mixture and dosage calculations: used within healthcare and food production
- By the end of the course, you will be able to create reports, plan finances or carry out other numerical tasks with much greater confidence.
Am I eligible to participate?
To participate in the programme you must meet the funding criteria requirements. This means you must work for a small to medium sized business within the Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire (D2N2) region. Alternatively, you could be self-employed and registered as a sole trader within the D2N2 region.
How much does it cost to attend?
This workshop is fully funded for eligible businesses, meaning there is no cost to your organisation. The Branch out in STEM programme is part-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF).
