For the last two centuries our economy has been stuck in a 'take, make and dispose' approach. In an era of increasing environmental awareness this approach is becoming both morally and economically unviable.
Reducing waste has always had cost saving benefits, but increasingly large companies around the globe are embracing a circular economic mindset that mimics natural ecosystems where one organism’s waste becomes nutrients for another organism. The circular economy represents an incredible opportunity for businesses of all sizes through new business models such as re-manufacturing, cascading, servitisation and the sharing economy.
What can you expect from this workshop?
Hear from businesses in our region that are already benefitting from the 'circular economy'. The session will be led by our DE-Carbonise project team and will explore how SMEs can reap the benefits of this shift towards a zero waste mindset.
Guest Speakers

We will also hear from Severn Trent Green Power who provide cost-effective, sustainable organic waste management solutions through an award-winning network of anaerobic digestion and composting facilities. There will also be contributions from other SMEs who have collaborated with our DE-Carbonise programme, including Crassus Grab Hire who turned one waste stream into a value stream worth over £60K per year whilst reducing emissions by 14 tCO2e.
