On this practical design course, you'll learn how to use 2D CAD sketches, whilst learning the essential functions of the software that will make your life as a designer simpler and more efficient.

It's ideal for anyone looking to develop their design portfolios; you might be a complete beginner to the software, or you're already working in design and looking to learn more about current software skills.

What you’ll study

On this course you'll learn new skills using different packages within the Adobe Creative Suite software to experiment with painting and drawing tools, image manipulation, pattern, repetition, texture and colour, using CAD to elevate your design and presentation skills to increase productivity and collaboration.

During this course you will:

  • practice using the software for fashion and textile design
  • consider product development through the design process
  • create presentations and marketing material around your designs
  • work from your own brief based on your area of interest (whether it's menswear, womenswear, childrenswear, or soft accessories)
  • discuss examples and images from industry and complete market research
  • understand your personal style versus a professional style specific to a workplace
  • have time to develop your skills and begin to build a portfolio
  • receive feedback from your tutor and peers on your designs

As well as demonstrating techniques to the group, there will also be time for one-to-one tutorials to aid your learning.

What you'll gain

By the end of the course, you'll have the beginnings of an industry standard portfolio, as well as a folder of software instructions and new technical skills.

You'll also leave with an overview of 2D CAD and how you can implement the software in the future.

You'll also receive a certificate of attendance when you complete the course, which is a great way to enhance your CV.
