If you feel that you need to do something to get you started on your journey to combat climate change and are working for or with an SME, then through this course you will get the knowledge and tools to set you off on the right path.
No previous environmental knowledge is needed.
Carbon Literacy is:
An awareness of the carbon dioxide costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.
Over 27,000 citizens and 76 organisations have already been certified Carbon Literate so far, with over 2,200 organisations being engaged.

The course is for any manager or staff member working for or with an SME and who is interested in understanding their organisation's carbon footprint and engaging their business in reducing their carbon impact.
Only businesses based in designated UK Community Renewal Fund areas are eligible. In the East Midlands, these are:
Training will be delivered online via Zoom through 2 X 3.5 hour sessions, and 1 hour of home-based activities, which are required to complete the course.
It will consist of a mixture of presentations, group activities, videos, quizzes and games.
Please ensure you have a WiFi/internet connection and adequate equipment that enables you to fully participate in the course (it is not recommended to do the course via iPhone/Smartphone). You will get the best out of the training if you use a laptop or PC (with a camera).

Training will be delivered by Alice Jackson, Academic Engagement Officer, University of Leicester & Christiane Startin-Lorent, Owner of 'Lorent Training', which through the provision of Carbon Literacy Training empowers Micro, Small and Medium-sized businesses to achieve behaviour change among their stakeholders and supports them on their journey to Net-Zero.
To receive the Carbon Literacy certification, you will need to submit an assessment form at the end of the course. This will be checked by the Carbon Literacy Project to ensure it meets their criteria.
