Date: Thursday 5th December, 2019
Time: 8.30am - 1.30pm

Held in partnership with the University of Nottingham, through the Energy Innovation and Collaboration team, the East Midlands Energy Summit will explore how Government, business, academia and civil society come together to ensure that clean growth can positively impact our futures and support the necessary action to be taken on climate change.

With its manufacturing heritage, energy generation expertise and innovative business and academic base, the East Midlands has the raw ingredients to be at the forefront of discussions around the future of energy generation, security, supply and storage. This Summit will provide a platform for businesses to explore what this means for them and the roles they can play as Government looks to transition the UK to a low carbon economy. It will also detail  the economic opportunities that exist for the region to play a leading role in the exciting Energy agenda.

The Summit will provide an informative insight into the current and future landscape of the energy system. Through a range of keynote presentations, panel discussions and workshops, attendees will be able to discuss and explore:

Government plans to implement the Industrial Strategy’s ‘Grand Challenge’, to maximise the advantages for UK Industry from the global shift to clean growth.

What would hitting the Government’s zero net carbon target by 2050 practically look like for East Midlands businesses and how do we get there.

How can businesses develop, implement and commercialise the low carbon technologies, innovative systems and services that will be needed as the world acts to tackle climate change.

The new funding models and technologies that exist to support investment and development of a new wave of low carbon energy.

What competitive edge can be gained by businesses driving down energy usage and costs and accelerating the shift to sustainable sources of energy.
