Selling the Sizzle

The Food and Drink Forum are delighted to work on behalf of Marketing Peak District and Derbyshire (MPDD) to offer Derbyshire food and drink producers and visitor economy businesses the opportunity to attend this fully funded course to help you grow and develop your businesses through the amazing food and drink products produced.

It has been said that a great food product sells itself, so why do you need to focus on selling in order to grow your business? Well, a good product is only part of the story, why do business people seek the help of the Dragons Den when they already have a good product? The answer is that you need to have a good food product and a great proposition, and then communicate that great proposition really well to the people who matter, either face to face or through your website.


Selling the sizzle is about taking your great food products and being able to pitch it properly to your target clients so they want to work with you.


Delegates will be able to:

Identify the right targeted customers for your product and why they should be interested in your proposition

Generate rapport with your target contact quickly and easily

Create the right approach to position the conversation with your targeted customer

Manage the conversation to position your products well and verify and match the client’s needs for the future

Negotiate a great deal for both you and your customer

Manage your state so that you have confidence in you and your approach

This course is designed to be highly participative and practical. You will have the opportunity to review your current ways of driving sales and identify ways to improve your sales results by applying simple yet proven approaches.

Timings: 9.00/9.30 - 4.00 pm

Refreshments: Tea, coffee and lunch will be provided

Please remember that if you cannot attend the event you must cancel 48 hours prior to the event through Eventbrite, otherwise we may have to charge in full for your place.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for funding your business must be:

A visitor economy(accommodation, attraction, activity provider, food and drink provider etc) or a food and drink producer (supply chain)

Based in Derbyshire (and their supply chain)

Be an SME (less than 250 FTE employees, have a balance sheet of less than €43m and/or turnover of less than €50m and not be more than 25% owned by another business that is not an SME

12 hours of business support is available at no cost for qualifying businesses thanks to the project funding. If you wish to attend more than 12 hours of workshops then you may be charged at the commercial rate, however, if you are a member of Marketing Peak District & Derbyshire, there is no limit of events you can attend.
