Rules of Origin and International Trade Preferences

As Importers, we are being encouraged to trade with countries which have preferential trading agreements with the EU or even developing countries. As exporters we are often asked to supply EUR1 and ATR Movement Certificates with the consignment so that our customers can import the goods either duty free or at a reduced rate.

The course explores the current Rules of Origin, Preference Agreements, how to establish where goods originate "officially", and the internal factors to support originate declarations.

Workshop programme in detail:

What we mean by Rules of Origin
The Tariff
Commodity Codes
How to establish origin
Documentation - EUR1, ATR and GSP Certificates
Internal documentation and procedures required to support origination declaration
Responsibilities as an importer and exporter

Course outcome:

Delegates will have gained the knowledge of how origin is established, how to complete the relevant documentation and the internal requirements to support the process.

Who should attend:

Staff who work in Logistics, Accountancy, Import or Export shipping departments.

Course delivery:

This half day workshop is delivered in a board room style environment from the Chambers modern training facilities and is limited to a maximum of 15 delegates. Lunch and refreshments are provided as part of this workshop and there is no requirement for delegates to bring any stationery or IT equipment.
