Branding & Identity - Two Day Workshop

Join the Design innovation team, supporting SMEs for this two day, interactive and hands-on workshop. Topics covered include:

  • What is a brand?
  • What YOUR brand stands for
  • Create your brand message (vision, mission & brand promise)
  • Understand your customers
  • Pitching your message
  • Presenting techniques (to investors, customers & partners)

This event is free to attend, but attendees must register in advance. This workshop is for small business owners or staff members in the fields of marketing, selling and PR. SMEs will need to be registered in Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire to be eligible for this ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) funded support.

Day 1 – Discover your brand – Wednesday 19 September

9 am - Networking & refreshments

9:30 am - Warm up exercise
Introductions and interactive discussion on what is a brand.

Brand identity
A fast paced exercise that will allow participants to articulate what their brand really stands for and create a repository of messages (including their vision, mission and brand promise) that express brand messages that are true to them and that they are excited and proud to talk about.

12 pm – lunch

12:30 - 3 pm - Customer personas

Getting your brand to work for you. Understanding your customers so your brand can attract and sell to customers effectively. This will be an exercise to create customer personas in order to then map out the most effective brand messaging strategy - what to say to whom and how - so you get the business results you want.

Each participant to then present their customer persona and marketing message to the rest of the group.

3.30 pm - Event close

Day 2 – Pitch your business and ideas confidently – Wednesday 26 September

9 am - Networking & refreshments

9:30 am - Warm up exercise
Introductions using the brand messages developed on Day 1. Each participant to present their brand messages in front of the group. This will be the basis for an interactive discussion on common barriers to presenting – what stands in the way of people presenting the ideas with enthusiasm and confidence.

Presenting effectively 
simple but powerful techniques to present (to anyone and anywhere) with confidence. Exercises that help build confidence in public speaking and will allow each participant to look at elements of their brand messages closely as well as we will do some more work to fine their business pitch.
