Selling or passing on a family business is a once-in-lifetime decision. The process is likely to present many challenges and the emotional, legal and technical issues have the potential to cause untold stress.

To ensure the process runs as smooth as possible, with minimal damage to relationships, the current business and future growth, it’s essential that careful succession planning is put in place.

This workshop will help you go through the steps of succession planning. We will consider business goals – both commercial and personal, timing, future ownership, management shares and capital, the actual sale of the business and any tax-efficiencies.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is ideally suited for family businesses but is open to any SMEs and business owners in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Timing

Registration and a networking lunch is from noon - 1pm. The workshop will finish at 4.30pm.

Lee Clifford
FREETHS
Lee is a partner at Freeths - the legal service provider with locations throughout England including Derby and Nottingham.

Lee will cover the technical and legal elements of management buy outs and the sale of a business.

Alex Ford
CT Skills

Alex will share his own experience of going through a management buyout covering how to start a process, what it’s like from the inside, impact on the business, getting good advice and doing the right deal.

This workshop is funded via the European Regional Development Fund, therefore we are required to evidence that you are a small to medium enterprise.

There will be a couple of forms that will need to be completed either prior to the event or on the day and these will be sent to you once you have registered. One form is to ensure you are a small to medium enterprise, the second is to capture any business support you have received over the last 3 years to ensure you haven’t exceeded €200,000. If you have previously completed these forms at a Growth Hub event you will not have to complete another set.
